FAMILY TREATMENT GUIDANCE SESSIONS

LOCATION AND PARTICIPANTS
Location: In-Office Session
Participants: Parents and Client/Child

This service is completed with parents and the client/child to allow for the BCBA to model and coach parents through the treatment procedures.
DURATION OF SESSION AND RECOMMENDATION
Duration of session: 1 hour

The recommended monthly hours range between 4-12 per month of this type of services.
*This service can be scheduled after completing at least 2 Parent Behavior Skills Training sessions.
SESSION DESCRIPTION
The following activities are the focus within Family Treatment Guidance sessions. These sessions can be done in conjunction with the Parent Behavior Skills Training sessions. Family Treatment Guidance sessions is a hands-on training session with parents and client/child present. All areas of these sessions are the progressive steps to successful use of behavior interventions in your home. However, the number of areas able to be targeted per hour depends on pace of learning, complexity of the behaviors, and consistency of services.
BCBA MODELING
During these sessions, the BCBA will model the implementation of current goals, updated treatment procedures, and new goal implementation.
BCBA COACHING
Parents’ will implement the treatment goal procedures with Coaching from the BCBA.  This allowed for guided practice of interventions which is a key to successful transition of treatment application in the home or natural environment.
APPLIED PARENT EDUCATION
During these sessions, there will be the opportunity to apply the information reviewed during parent education within previous Parent Behavior Skills Training. In the moment application of the parent education concepts with the client/child present allows for Parents to develop more meaningful understanding and the ability to continue to build upon the foundation knowledge of behavior analysis.
FEEDBACK AND ADDRESSING TREATMENT BARRIERS
The BCBA will provide feedback to parents on their implementation of the treatment procedures. This is also a time to address any barriers to progress with the current behavior treatment plan.
*more detailed follow up on any treatment barriers would be discussed during the following Parent Behavior Skills Training session.
RECOMMENDATION FOR FOLLOW UP
The BCBA will review the recommendations for the duration between appointments and format of sessions.
